There are two main methods of fabric printing, one is traditional dye printing and the other is reactive printing.

Reactive printing means that the active gene of the dye is combined with fiber molecules under certain conditions, the dye penetrates into the fabric, and the chemical reaction between the dye and the fabric makes the dye and the fiber form a whole; dye printing is the physical combination of the dye and the fabric through the adhesive.

The difference between reactive printing and dyeing printing is that the hand feel of reactive printing is smooth and soft. The common saying is that the fabric of reactive printing looks like mercerized cotton. The effect of printing is very good from both sides; while the fabric of dye printing feels stiff. It looks a bit like an ink painting.

1. Features of dye printing

The process is simple and the cost is low. The color fastness is poor; the environmental protection performance is poor, and the formaldehyde content is higher than that of reactive printing; the printed parts are sticky and appear hard without adding softener. If softener is added, the formaldehyde content is higher.

2. Features of reactive printing

It has good air permeability, excellent fastness and soft hand feeling, but there are also problems such as cumbersome printing process, long process and difficult processing. Generally, reactive printing can ensure environmental protection, harmless to people, and the color and fabric feel are better.

3. Identification method

Recognizing the color: the color of dye printing is not bright, and the color is dim, giving people a feeling that the color is floating on the cloth surface. It's like putting a coat of paint on the wall.

Look at the gloss: dye printed fabrics go through the "calendering" process before they leave the factory, so you can see that the fabric surface has a shiny feeling. The smoothness obtained by calendering is one-time and will disappear after washing.

Smell: dye printing adds a lot of binders, and it is directly shaped without washing, so there will be a strong smell in the finished fabric.

Touch feel: dye printing has a hard feel. In order to cover up this shortcoming, the fabric manufacturer added a softener when setting the shape. The finished product will feel softer after being "calendered", and most of it will fall off after washing.
