DTF printer: To be able to print the design that we want to stamp on the wood, a duly modified inkjet printer is needed for the DTF
DTF hot melt powder: To make the design adhere to the surface, it is necessary to use DTF hot melt powder. This creates a sticky layer on top of the wet ink.
Heat transfer machine: It is essential to have a heat transfer machine to be able to cure the design.

How to customize wood with DTF
Now, if we already have everything we need to be able to customize the wood product we want, we will have to follow the following steps:
Print the design on the DTF film with the DTF printer. Be careful because the inks are wet! In addition, you will have to print with a white base or that the colors you are going to print are darker than wood.
Spread the DTF powders over the printed design making sure you go through the entire design.
Curing: It is necessary to use a heat transfer machine or an oven to cure the powder so that this adhesive layer is formed.
Ironing on the wood: Once the previous steps have been carried out, we will have to carry out the ironing at a temperature of 165º for 20 seconds with a medium-high pressure.
Let cool and peel or discard the film. Always slowly and carefully!
To personalize a wood product, there is not only the DTF technique but it can also be done with others such as sublimation, UV technique, or with vinyl.
And you ask yourself, what differences are there in customization if you use one technique or another? We explain it to you:
Sublimation: To work with this technique, it is necessary to carry out a previous treatment on the wood, or coating, since the wood is not sublimable. However, DTF does not require pretreatment of the wood.
Adhesive vinyls: Customizing the wood with vinyls is very simple, but you will have to cut the outline of the design with a cutting plotter. On the other hand, with the DTF it is not necessary, since the printed design is already transferred directly.
UV: Yes it is true that working on wood with the UV technique is very simple because it is printed directly on the product. You also have the option of white ink and, in addition, curing is done directly with the lamp. However, a UV printer represents a much higher investment than DTF equipment.
